workshop: tea bar with madeline metcalf
happy new year! i can’t believe i’ve never blogged about these pictures from madeline metcalf before! they are stunning. madeline came to shoot my first workshop at tea bar in november 2017, a little more than a year ago - crazy! this was my FIRST workshop - isn’t that wild? and it was the most people i’ve ever had at a workshop (thank you, dear friends). my good friend asked if i could teach her how to do calligraphy and i said yes, if i could do it workshop style. got a bunch of my friends together, had them just pay for the supplies & got together for a morning of fun.
at this point, i didn’t even know if i wanted to do workshops - and it still took me a full year to really get on board with workshops and decide that i wanted to continue doing them around town. i remember i called multiple times to reserve a table at tea bar, and then when i got there (late, of course) they hadn’t reserved it, but it was open & we were able to snag it!
it was so nice learning how to teach with my friends, it was more relaxed and casual. one of the hardest parts about workshops for me is the small talk. i love to keep the small talk going! but sometimes i don’t get any talkers & my students are so focused that there isn’t that much chit chat. looking at me wishing that my students weren’t so focused!
for 2019, i just have a few workshops booked - looking to book more, so let me know if you have any favorite venues! click here to see what’s on the books.
and thanks to sweet madeline for these beautiful pictures!
