top 10 most obsessed over songs of 2010
My boyfriend, Luke Larsen, recently started a music blog, The Feedback Loop. He is starting off his blog by recounting his top 20 albums of 2010, which is turning out to be an amazing, well-rounded list. And I am also learning how great of a writer he is. If music is your thing, be sure to check out his blog! It's legit.
His countdown inspired me to share my own countdown here. I've been really into music my whole life and I like defining each year in music. Although, I am not as hip as Luke, and the lists that I will be compiling are not current for 2010, as in it is not just music that was released in 2010, for me it's music that I liked in 2010.
Today, here are the top ten songs that I was most obsessed with this year. I have this problem, or quirk - maybe, where I can listen to obsess over things hardcore, repeatedly. For example, I have been listening to Glee's version of Florence + the Machine's "Dog Days Are Over" straight for at least the past 4 hours. And I still love it. I am that kind of person. So these next ten songs are songs that I have gone through this exact phase with. Some are better than other, but I hope you find some new gems in here!
1. The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition
This song was actually in my top 10 list from 2009 as well. I put it in again because I have listened to this song SO MUCH. It's been a constant in my life for the past two years, and I still love it. It still makes me feel alive (cheese? yes), but it's true!
2. She & Him - In the Sun
Uh, Zooey + cheer. Yes, please.
3. Brooke Fraser - Something in the Water
I would listen to the video on youtube continuously. It was so annoying to restart it every 3 minutes, but I loved it. I finally bought the album two weeks ago. :)
4. Ke$ha - Your Love is My Drug
Right.
5. Vampire Weekend - Giving Up the Gun
"Have I told you I love this song?"
6. Florence + the Machine - Dog Days are Over
I also really like the Glee version. It makes me so happy when they're all dancing. I wish I could be on Glee! (It's like ZOOM for high school kids)
7. Ratatat - Seventeen Years
Old, but good.
8. Blue Scholars - Lumiere
Blue Scholars + the XX. Yes!
9. B.o.B. - Magic
Good dance song.
10. Relient K - Savannah
I don't know? I like it.
HONORABLE MENTION
The XX - Islands
This video is amazing. If you watch any video, watch this one. I can't get enough of it.
Mayer Hawthorne - Your Easy Lovin' Ain't Pleasin' Nothin'
Saw him live with Passion Pit. Charming.
